The beautiful bride, sophisticated decor, endless fairy lights and stunning flowers, made this Kay and Monty wedding absolutely breathtaking from beginning to end. We chatted to Ashleigh and Devan about the highlights of the day, their top wedding planning tips and more.
How did you meet your husband? And the proposal?
I met Devan through a friend originally and we then reconnected a few months later at a party – he pretty much stalked me on Facebook until I agreed to go for a drink with him. I even had an emergency escape plan organised with a friend but it was never needed and the rest is history. He proposed on a balmy evening in Lisbon, Portugal, on a private rooftop terrace in the old town overlooking the old white buildings and terracotta roofs. It was magical!
What made you choose Kay and Monty as your wedding venue?
We fell in love with the modern, all-glass venue that had been converted from an old orchid greenhouse. There is a certain magic about being surrounded by the mountains on all sides.
Tell us about your wedding style…
We wanted a chic, simple and sophisticated feel. Modern minimalism with black and white was our colour scheme, complimented by beautifully handcrafted iconography by Sunshinegun who brought my vision to life!
Threaded sheets at the ceremony, a flower arch, tons of fairy light curtains, a black and white dance floor and overhead flower installations – we wanted to achieve a lux yet simple and sophisticated feel.
What were the highlights of your wedding day?
The first kiss of course, but in all honesty it was unreal that everyone was there for us. We were overwhelmed with love all day and night!
Your top tip for planning a wedding?
RELAX! Nobody knows what is supposed to happen, so soak up every moment and take time to sneak a quiet moment [read: glass of champagne] with your new partner, as it flies by!
